Health & Safety

A safe and healthy workplace is vital to all employees. But in the school environment, staff members are often exposed to hazards that could affect their physical and psychological state.

To help reduce these risks, the IEUwa places high importance on the role of the Occupational Health and Safety Representatives at each workplace.

Your union offers practical support and advice to OH & S Reps in relation to:

  • Negotiating time off to undertake your duties (inspections, investigations).
  • Keeping Occupational Safety and Health in the spotlight at your workplace.
  • Developing a mutually agreed process for resolving issues of concern.
  • Strategies if issues are not being addressed or resolved in an appropriate manner.
